Volume Calculator
Box: V = l × w × h = 2 × 3 × 4 = 24. Sphere: V = 4/3 × π × r³ = 4/3 × π × 3³ ≈ 113.1.
How to use
- Choose the solid.
- Enter its dimensions in one unit and pick that unit.
- Read the volume in cubic units, the surface area, and the same volume in litres and US gallons.
How it works
Cuboid: length × width × height. Cylinder: π × r² × h. Sphere: 4/3 × π × r³. Cone: π × r² × h ÷ 3. Pyramid with a rectangular base: length × width × height ÷ 3.
Surface area is the total outer area. Cuboid 2(lw + lh + wh), cylinder 2πr(r + h), sphere 4πr², cone πr(r + slant height), pyramid base plus four triangular faces.
Cubic units are converted to litres using 1 m³ = 1000 L, and to US gallons using 1 gal = 3.785411784 L.

FAQ
How do I find the volume of a cylinder?
Pick Cylinder, enter the radius and the height. The volume is π × r² × h. A can with radius 3 and height 10 holds about 282.74 cubic units.
What is the height of a cone or pyramid?
The straight vertical distance from the base to the tip, not the length of the sloping side.
How many litres is a cubic metre?
One cubic metre is 1000 litres, and one litre is 1000 cubic centimetres. The tool shows the litre value for you.
How do I calculate the volume of a box?
Multiply length × width × height. A box 2 by 3 by 4 has a volume of 2 × 3 × 4 = 24 cubic units. The calculator shows this working under the result.
What is the volume of a sphere?
V = 4/3 × π × r³. For a radius of 3 that is 4/3 × π × 27 ≈ 113.1 cubic units. If you know the diameter, halve it first.
How do I find the volume of a cone?
A cone holds one third of the cylinder with the same base and height: V = π × r² × h ÷ 3. Radius 3 and height 4 give π × 9 × 4 ÷ 3 ≈ 37.7.
Does the pyramid have to have a square base?
No. Enter different base length and width for a rectangular base. For a square base use the same number for both.
