How to use

  1. Choose the operation and the layout: horizontal equations or vertical (column) form.
  2. Set the digits of each number and the number of problems. For addition and subtraction you can require or avoid carrying and borrowing.
  3. Press Print to print the problem page and the answer page on A4. Untick the answer option if you do not want the key.
  4. Press New set for different problems. To reuse a worksheet, copy the share link, which includes the seed.

How it works

Problems are drawn from a pseudo-random sequence started by the seed number. The same settings and seed give the same problems and answers on any device.

Subtraction never gives a negative answer. Division gives whole-number answers unless you ask for remainders, in which case every problem has a remainder of 1 or more.

Without carrying means no column adds up to 10 or more. Without borrowing means no column needs to borrow. If a setting cannot produce such a problem, such as one-digit borrowing, the tool relaxes the rule and tells you.

One-digit multiplication and division use 2 to 9, leaving out 1.

Printing tips

  • Set the paper size to A4 and the scale to 100%. Turn off headers and footers for clean margins.
  • The limit is 50 problems in horizontal form and 20 in vertical form so that the sheet fits on one page.

FAQ

Is the worksheet free to print?

Yes. Use it at home or in class. Nothing you enter is sent to a server.

Can I recreate the same worksheet?

Yes, with the same settings and seed. The share link stores both.

Does it make 100-square grids?

Not at the moment. It makes horizontal and vertical arithmetic problems.

Can I print only the answer page?

Choose page 2 in the print dialog. The answers are on the second page.
