Wheel Spinner

How to use

  1. Type one option per line in the box. Blank lines are ignored.
  2. Press Spin. The wheel turns for about four seconds and stops on the winner.
  3. Press Remove winner to take that entry off the list, then spin again for the next pick.

How it works

The winner is chosen before the wheel moves, using your browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues). Every slice has the same chance.

The animation then calculates a stopping angle inside the chosen slice, adds a few full turns and slows down smoothly. The animation only shows the result; it does not decide it.

If you type the same option twice it gets two slices, so it is twice as likely to win.

Ideas for using a wheel

  • Pick who goes first in a game or a meeting.
  • Choose a winner from a list of raffle entries.
  • Decide where to eat or what to cook when nobody can agree.
  • Call on students in class without favoring anyone.

FAQ

Is the wheel really random?

Yes. The pick comes from crypto.getRandomValues, the same random source browsers use for security features, and each slice has an equal chance.

How do I give one option a better chance?

Enter it on more than one line. Each line becomes its own slice, so an option listed three times has three times the chance.

How many options can I add?

Up to 100. Extra lines are left off the wheel and a note tells you so.

Are my entries saved or uploaded?

No. The list stays on this page in your browser and is cleared when you close or reload it.
