Jitter Click Test

Jitter clicking reaches about 8 to 12 CPS with practice. 90 clicks in 10 seconds is 9 CPS. Rest your wrist between runs.

Jitter clicking strains the wrist and forearm. Warm up, rest between runs and stop if you feel pain.

How to use

  1. Rest your forearm on the desk and hold the mouse the way you normally do. Relax your hand first.
  2. Choose a length. 10 seconds is the standard for jitter clicking.
  3. Click the box once to start, then jitter: tense the forearm so the hand shakes in small, fast motions and the click finger taps the button with each shake.
  4. Check your CPS, rank and the chart. A flat chart means a steady jitter; a falling chart means you ran out of stamina.

How it works

CPS = clicks / test length in seconds, rounded to two decimals. Only the main button counts.

The peak second in the chart is your best one-second burst. The gap between the peak and the average tells you how well you hold the speed.

What jitter clicking is

Jitter clicking is a way to click much faster than normal tapping. You tense the muscles of the forearm and wrist so the whole hand vibrates, and that vibration pushes the click finger onto the mouse button again and again.

Typical jitter speeds are 8 to 12 CPS with practice. Some people go higher, but the vibration is tiring and hard to aim with, so many players use it only for short bursts.

Step by step

  • Grip the mouse lightly and keep the click finger just above the button.
  • Tense the forearm and shake. The motion should come from the arm, not from deliberately tapping the finger.
  • Let the finger touch the button with each shake and keep the shake small and quick.
  • Start with 5 second runs and add time only when the chart stays flat.

Safety: protect your wrist

Jitter clicking puts steady tension on the forearm, wrist and finger tendons. Warm up first, take a break of a minute or two between runs, and stop at once if you feel pain, numbness or tingling. Do not practice for long stretches, and see a doctor if discomfort lasts. A good score is never worth an injury.

Mouse and setup

  • A light mouse with a short, crisp switch makes the vibration easier to turn into clicks.
  • Some games and websites ignore very fast clicks. This page counts every press the browser reports.

FAQ

Is jitter clicking bad for my hand?

It strains the forearm, wrist and fingers, so it can cause pain with long or frequent use. Keep sessions short, rest often and stop if anything hurts.

How is it different from butterfly clicking?

Jitter uses one finger and a vibrating arm. Butterfly uses two fingers that take turns on the same button. See the butterfly click test for that technique.

What is a good jitter CPS?

About 8 to 10 CPS is a solid first target, and 10 to 14 is advanced. Scores depend a lot on the mouse and on how long you hold the test.

Why does the chart fall over time?

Jitter is tiring. A falling chart shows your stamina limit. Train at the length where the bars stay about level.
