Gacha Pity Calculator
The calculator uses the exact odds, not a simulation. The chance per pull rises from the soft pity start and becomes 100% on the hard pity pull, and after a lost 50/50 the next 5-star is guaranteed to be the featured one.
How to use
- Choose a preset or Custom, then check the rules: base rate, where soft pity starts, how much the rate rises per pull, the hard pity pull, and your chance to win the 50/50.
- Enter your current pity (pulls since your last 5-star) and whether the next one is guaranteed to be featured.
- Enter the number of pulls you have, or your currency and the cost of one pull. The chance of success appears with the expected and worst-case pulls.
How it works
Every pull has a chance p(i), where i counts pulls since the last 5-star. It equals the base rate, rises by the soft pity step from the soft pity start onward, and becomes 100% on the hard pity pull. The calculator multiplies these together pull by pull, so the result is the exact distribution and not a simulation.
With a 50/50 rule, the first 5-star is featured with the chance you set. If it is not, the next one is guaranteed to be featured. The pull counts of those two 5-stars are added together exactly by convolution. For more than one copy, each further copy starts from zero pity.
Presets use the base rate of 0.6%, the 90-pull hard pity and the 50% featured chance shown in each game's in-game probability information. Soft pity of 74 pulls with +6 percentage points per pull is a community measurement, not an official value. With it the average comes out near 62.3 pulls per 5-star, which matches the 1.6% combined rate the games publish. Change any number if the game updates its rules.
Pulls from currency = currency ÷ cost per pull, rounded down. The default cost of 160 is the usual price of one pull in Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail; change it for other games.
FAQ
What are my odds of a 5-star Genshin Impact character within 90 pulls?
Without the 50/50, the chance of at least one 5-star within 90 pulls is exactly 100% because of the hard pity. To get the featured character you need up to 180 pulls, and the calculator shows the odds for any number in between. Set the pity and guarantee fields to your own state.
How many pulls do I need on average for the featured character?
With the preset rules, a 5-star takes about 62.3 pulls on average, and the featured one about 93.4, since half the time you also spend a second 5-star. The 50%, 90% and 99% rows tell you how many pulls cover most outcomes.
What is the difference between soft pity and hard pity?
Soft pity is where the chance per pull starts climbing, around pull 74 in these games. Hard pity is the pull where success is guaranteed, pull 90 here. Enter 0 for soft pity start if your game has none.
Can I use this for any gacha game?
Yes, if its rules fit this pattern: a base rate, optional rising rate, a guaranteed pull and optionally a 50/50 with a guarantee. For a game with no 50/50, set the featured chance to 100.
