Minecraft Stack Calculator
1,000 items that stack to 64 are 15 stacks and 40 extra, which fills 16 slots: 1 shulker box or 1 double chest.
How to use
- Pick Items to stacks, or Stacks to items to go the other way.
- Enter the number of items (or stacks and loose items) and choose the stack size: 64 for most blocks, 16 for ender pearls, eggs and signs, 1 for tools and armour.
- Read the stacks, the slots used and how many shulker boxes or double chests that takes.
How it works
Stacks = items ÷ stack size, rounded down, with the leftover items as the remainder. Slots used = items ÷ stack size, rounded up.
A shulker box and a single chest each have 27 slots, so a double chest has 54. Shulker boxes = slots ÷ 27 and double chests = slots ÷ 54, both rounded up.
For a 64-stack item one shulker box holds 1,728 items and a double chest 3,456.
FAQ
Which items stack to 16?
Ender pearls, eggs, snowballs, signs, buckets of some kinds, banners and a few others. Most blocks and materials stack to 64, and tools, weapons and armour do not stack.
How many items fit in a shulker box?
Twenty-seven slots, so 1,728 of a 64-stack item, 432 of a 16-stack item or 27 of an unstackable one. A shulker box cannot be placed inside another shulker box.
Does it work for Bedrock and Java?
Yes. Stack sizes and the 27-slot shulker box and 54-slot double chest are the same in both editions.
How big is a stack in a furnace or hopper?
The same: a slot holds up to the item's stack size wherever you put it.
