eBay Fee Calculator
eBay takes $7.88 from a $50.00 item with $5.00 shipping (rates as of 2026-10-16): a 13.6% final value fee on the $55.00 total ($7.48) plus a $0.40 per-order fee. With $20.00 item cost and $5.00 postage you keep $22.12 profit (40.22% margin); a 5% Promoted Listings ad rate adds $2.75. To net $20.00 on that order, list the item at $47.55.
How to use
- Choose From selling price to see fees and profit, or From target profit to find the item price to list.
- Enter the item price, the shipping you charge the buyer, your item cost and your real shipping cost.
- Add the sales tax rate eBay collects (it is part of the fee base) and a Promoted Listings ad rate if the sale came from an ad.
How it works
Total sale amount = item price + buyer-paid shipping + sales tax. Final value fee = 13.6% of the total up to $7,500, plus 2.35% of any part above $7,500.
Per-order fee = $0.30 if the total is $10.00 or less, $0.40 if it is more. Promoted Listings fee = ad rate × (item price + shipping), only on sales that came from an ad.
Profit = item price + shipping - fees - item cost - your shipping cost. Margin = profit / (item price + shipping) × 100. Each fee is rounded to the cent.
Example: 55.00 × 13.6% = 7.48, plus 0.40 per order = 7.88 in fees, leaving 47.12 before costs.

FAQ
How much does eBay take from a $50 sale?
With $5.00 shipping charged and no sales tax, eBay takes $7.88: 13.6% of $55.00 is 7.48, plus the $0.40 per-order fee. That is about 14.33% of what the buyer pays.
Does eBay charge fees on shipping and sales tax?
Yes. The final value fee is worked out on the total sale amount, which includes buyer-paid shipping and handling and the sales tax eBay collects where it applies. Enter the rate to include it.
What is the per-order fee?
A flat fee added to each order: $0.30 when the total is $10.00 or less and $0.40 above that. It is charged once per order, not per item.
Is the 13.6% rate the same for every category?
No. It is the standard rate for most categories. Several categories have lower or higher rates and caps, so check your category on eBay before relying on the result.
How do Promoted Listings affect profit?
With Promoted Listings Standard you pay your ad rate only on sales that come from the ad. Enter that rate to see the fee, or leave it at 0 for organic sales.
