Cursed Text Generator
"Hello" at the default intensity (up to 6 marks per letter) gets about 22 stacked marks in total. The Remove curse box turns it back into "Hello".
How to use
- Type your text, then drag Intensity to set how many marks pile onto each letter (1 to 16).
- Choose where the marks grow: above, through the middle or below. Press New curse for a fresh random pattern.
- Press Copy. To clean up cursed text someone else made, paste it into Remove curse and copy the result.
How it works
Cursed text is normal letters followed by Unicode combining marks, the same invisible-width characters that add accents (é = e + ´). Stack enough of them and they pile up above, below or across the letter, which gives the dripping glitch look. This style is often called zalgo.
At intensity N, each letter receives between N/2 (rounded up) and N random marks from the chosen directions. Marks above the letter come from 51 combining characters, marks below from 49, and marks through the middle from 7.
Remove curse deletes every combining mark in the standard ranges (U+0300 to U+036F and the extended blocks). Letters that are already single characters, like the é in cafe, stay. An accent typed as e plus a separate mark is removed too.
Intensity guide
| Intensity | Marks per letter | Look |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 3 | 1 to 3 | Faint flicker, still easy to read |
| 4 to 8 | 2 to 8 | Classic creepy text, stays inside most boxes |
| 9 to 16 | 5 to 16 | Full meltdown, often clipped by apps and hard to read |
Where cursed text breaks
- Many apps cap each message by character count, and every mark counts. 20 letters at intensity 16 is roughly 250 characters.
- Some sites clip the marks at the edge of the text box, strip them, or reject the whole message. Discord, X and most chat apps show it, but check before you post.
- Do not use it in usernames, passwords or forms. Tools that search or sort text will not recognise the words.
- Screen readers may read each mark aloud or skip the text, so it makes content inaccessible. Keep it to short jokes and decoration.
FAQ
Why does the text look different in each app?
Each app and font decides how far marks may stretch. Some clip them at the line edge, some let them cover the lines above and below, and a few remove them. Lower the intensity if your target app cuts them off.
What does Keep first letter clean do?
Every word starts with a normal letter and only the rest of the word is cursed. This keeps text readable at higher intensity.
Does cursed text count more characters?
Yes. Each mark is its own character, so a short phrase can use up a character limit. The counter shows the total so you can check before posting.
Can I turn cursed text back to normal?
Yes. Paste it into the Remove curse box. It strips all combining marks, so letters you typed come back unchanged. A decomposed accent (e plus a separate mark) loses its accent too.
Is this safe to paste?
It is plain Unicode text and runs only in your browser, with nothing uploaded. Very heavy zalgo can slow down or glitch some apps, so use moderate intensity in chats.
