How to use

  1. Drop an .xlsx file onto the box, or press it to choose one (up to 50 MB). If the workbook has several sheets, pick the one you want from the list.
  2. Choose the separator: comma, semicolon, tab or pipe. Keep the UTF-8 marker box ticked if you will open the CSV in Excel and your data has accents or non-Latin letters. Check the preview of the first rows.
  3. Press Download CSV. With several sheets you can also press Download all to get one CSV per sheet in a ZIP.

How it works

The tool reads the saved values of each cell, not the formulas, so a cell that shows 12.50 comes out as 12.5 and a formula comes out as its last calculated result. Dates become 2026-10-15, or 2026-10-15 13:30:00 when they have a time. TRUE and FALSE stay as they are.

A field that contains the separator, a quotation mark or a line break is wrapped in quotation marks, and quotation marks inside it are doubled, as the CSV standard (RFC 4180) says. Empty rows and columns at the end of the sheet are dropped.

The file is opened in your browser with a small library that is downloaded only when you choose a file. Only .xlsx and .xlsm files work. Your data is never sent to a server.

FAQ

Is my spreadsheet uploaded?

No. The file is read and converted in this browser tab. There is no upload, no account and no copy kept anywhere else. That makes it safe for private data.

Does it work with .xls files?

No. Only the newer .xlsx and .xlsm formats work. In Excel, choose File, Save As and pick Excel Workbook (.xlsx), then add that copy here.

Why do accents or Korean letters look broken when I open the CSV in Excel?

Excel needs a UTF-8 marker at the start of the file to know the encoding. Keep the UTF-8 marker box ticked, which is the default, and the text will display correctly.

Why does my CSV use semicolons in some countries?

Where the decimal separator is a comma, Excel expects a semicolon between fields. Choose semicolon if the file is meant for such a setup.

Why does the file need a password?

A password protected workbook is encrypted and cannot be read. Remove the password in Excel first, save a copy and add it here.
