Remove Line Breaks

Removing 2 line breaks from three lines and joining them with spaces gives "one two three".

How to use

  1. Paste the text with unwanted line breaks.
  2. Choose how lines are joined: with a space, with nothing, or inside paragraphs only.
  3. Turn on the extra options if you need them, then press Copy.

How it works

Windows (CR LF) and old Mac (CR) line endings are treated as one line break each.

Space mode trims every line, drops empty lines and joins the rest with a single space. No space mode joins them with nothing in between, which suits lists of codes or numbers.

Keep paragraphs mode treats any empty line, including one that holds only spaces, as a paragraph break. Lines inside a paragraph are joined with a space and paragraphs are separated by one empty line.

FAQ

Why does text copied from a PDF have breaks in the middle of sentences?

PDFs store text as positioned lines, so copying often keeps a line break at the end of every printed line. Joining the lines puts the sentences back together.

What does fix hyphenated words do?

When a line ends with a hyphen and the next line starts with a lowercase letter, the hyphen is removed and the two parts are joined, so exam- and ple become example.

Can the hyphen fix get it wrong?

Yes. A real hyphenated word such as long-term that happens to break after the hyphen will lose its hyphen and become longterm. Leave the option off if your text has many hyphenated words, or check the result.

Is my text uploaded?
