Zakat Calculator
The zakat nisab is 85 grams of gold. Zakat is 2.5% of wealth that has reached the nisab and been held for one lunar year (hawl).
How to use
- Choose the type of zakat: Savings for cash, bank balances and investments, or Gold for gold you keep.
- Enter today's gold price per gram from a jeweller or a source you trust. The calculator does not fetch prices, and it works in any currency as long as you use the same one throughout.
- The result shows whether your wealth has reached the nisab and how much zakat of 2.5% (one fortieth) is due.
How it works
Zakat on savings = (savings and assets - debts due now) x 2.5%, if what remains reaches the nisab of 85 grams of gold and has been held for one lunar year (hawl).
Zakat on gold: if the gold you keep weighs 85 grams or more, 2.5% of its weight or value is due.
The nisab here is measured in gold only. Some scholars measure it by silver (595 grams; 612.36 grams in the Hanafi school, which is 52.5 tolas) because it benefits the poor more, and in that case the nisab is much lower.

FAQ
Is this result final?
No, it is an estimate. Whether zakat is due depends on the hawl, the kind of wealth and full ownership. For certainty, ask a scholar or a zakat body you trust.
Is worn jewellery subject to zakat?
Scholars differ. Many, including the Hanafi school, hold that jewellery that reaches the nisab is subject to zakat, while others hold that jewellery kept for personal use is not. The calculator counts the weight you enter.
Why does the calculator not fetch the gold price?
The gold price changes every day and differs between shops, so entering your own price keeps the basis of the calculation clear.
