How to use

  1. To convert cm to shoe size, pick Foot (cm) or Foot (in) and type your foot length. To convert between sizes, pick the system you know instead: US men's, US women's, UK or EU.
  2. Enter the size. The other systems appear at once, along with your foot length.
  3. If US women's sizes look off by one half size compared with a brand's chart, switch the women's scale to Retail (men's + 1.5).
  4. For the best fit, measure your foot (heel to longest toe) and check the brand's own chart, especially for athletic and boot sizes.

How it works

There is no single international standard for shoe sizes. US and UK sizes count in barleycorns (1/3 inch) from different starting points, and EU sizes count in Paris points (2/3 cm). Each brand also adds its own allowance of room beyond the foot, so charts disagree by up to a size.

This tool uses the formulas in ISO/TS 19407 (a conversion technical specification) from foot length L in millimeters: EU = 0.15 x L + 2, and UK = 3 / 25.4 x L - 23. US men's is UK + 1. US women's is UK + 2 (men's + 1) on the standard scale and UK + 2.5 (men's + 1.5) on the common retail scale. Results round to the nearest half size.

Example: a foot of 280 mm gives EU 0.15 x 280 + 2 = 44, UK 3 / 25.4 x 280 - 23 = 10.1 or 10, US men's 11 and US women's 12.

The formulas cover adult sizes. Children's and toddler sizes use a different starting point and are not converted here. Use the result as a guide and confirm with the retailer's own size chart.

FAQ

Is there one international shoe size standard?

No. ISO 9407 defines Mondopoint, which uses foot length in millimeters, but most shoes are still sold in US, UK or EU sizes. Those scales start at different points and brands add their own allowances, so the same size can fit differently.

How do I convert cm to shoe size?

Measure your foot from heel to longest toe, choose Foot (cm) in the converter and enter the length. A 26 cm foot is about US men's 8.5, US women's 9.5, UK 7.5 and EU 41. The table below lists 22 to 30 cm in half-centimeter steps.

How do I convert foot size in inches to shoe size?

Choose Foot (in) and enter the length, for example 10.2 in (about 26 cm). The tool converts inches to millimeters first (1 in = 25.4 mm) and then applies the same ISO/TS 19407 formulas.

How do I convert a US men's size to women's?

Add 1 to 1.5 sizes to the men's size. The standard scale uses +1 and many US retailers use +1.5. Pick the scale that matches your brand's chart.

How should I measure my foot?

Stand on a sheet of paper, mark the back of your heel and the tip of your longest toe, and measure between the marks. Measure in the afternoon when feet are slightly larger, and measure both feet and use the longer one.

Why is my EU size different on another site?

Brands choose how much room to add beyond the foot, and EU sizes are often rounded to whole or half sizes differently. A difference of half a size is normal.
